Frequently asked questions

How do I get a video into MoveLens?

Three ways: from the Files app, from your Photos library, or by pasting one straight from the clipboard — handy when a friend sends you a clip, or you copied it on your Mac. Everything you bring in is saved automatically, newest first.

How do I slow a video down?

Open a video and use the speed slider. It settles anywhere between full speed and a tenth of it, so 0.35× and 0.70× are as available as 0.5×. Scrub to a particular count and it stays there. Every video loops on its own, so a two-second phrase repeats until you have it.

The tutorial’s left is my right. Can I flip it?

Yes — one tap mirrors the video, so their left becomes your left and you can follow along without translating every move.

Can I play my own attempt next to the original?

Open the split view and play both together, each at its own speed if you want, since your run is rarely the tempo theirs is. You can swap either side out for a different video without leaving the split.

The video does not fill the screen.

Pinch out to fill the frame, pinch in to fit the whole thing. Useful with portrait footage where the detail you are after is small.

Where are my videos stored? Will they be in my backup?

They stay on your device, inside MoveLens’s own storage, copied byte for byte with no re-encoding.

Saved videos are deliberately excluded from iCloud backup, so a large library will not eat your iCloud storage. It also means that restoring a new device from a backup will not bring them back, and that deleting the app deletes them. Keep your originals in Photos or Files if they matter to you.

How do I remove the banner ad?

Open the menu and choose Remove Ads. It is a one-time purchase, and it carries across to your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

I bought Remove Ads but the banner is back.

Tap Restore Purchases on the same screen. Purchases follow the Apple Account that made them, so check that you are signed in with the same one — a different Media & Purchases account genuinely has to buy it again.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple rather than by me. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.

What video formats work?

Anything iOS itself can play, which covers essentially everything a phone or camera produces. Files are imported exactly as they are, with no re-encoding, so what you study is what you shot, at full quality.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your videos never leave your device, and there is no account or sign-in. The privacy policy covers what the app does collect.
